Steroids=weak bones???
I recently fully fractured my navicular in my left foot by just planting on my foot wrong. Ive been reading around about the effects of steroids and weakening bones. could cycling be the cause of this or me jus being a aggresive field athlete and having a freak break. any thoughts about the subject would help. Also cycling after surgery and affecting the bone healing??

Corticosteroids such as Prednisone that are given to decrease inflammation, or for autoimmune conditions, can decrease your bone density and even cause something called avascular necrosis, usually of the femoral head which kills the blood supply to your hip --> results in arthritis, need for hip replacement.
Anabolic and androgenic steroids don't and in fact, Deca was a treatment for osteoporosis.
Both are "Steroids" b/c they share the same chemical motif tho they have vastly different effects.
Fx of navicular needs to be handled with care. Poor blood supply and relatively high risk of avascular necrosis (as a result of trauma, not steroids in this case). I hope you see a good orthopedist.

So far so good, they seem to be doing what they’re supposed to.
