feeling tired half way during workout !
hello everyone
gym used to be my life, i love working out. its a part of my routine just like most of us. i used to workout regularly. however, things changed after i had an ACL operation last February. i did physiotherapy for 5 months and i officially returned to training in june. i started slow of course and i worked my way from there. things are not the same anymore. before my ACL operation i used to do muscle group but when i returned to training in June, i changed my workout to full body workout. i cut down a lot of weight. i went from 220 lb to 175 lb. i lost a lot of muscles but i cut a lot of fat. anyhow i feel better than before. the problem im facing now is very annoying. every time i workout now, i feel very tired and dizzy only half way to my workout. i get this pain right under my chest that kills me. i feel discomfort in my stomach. i get lazy and loose focus. i feel like im gona vomit and faint. i never experience this before. my diet is good. however sometimes i dont eat enough bcuz i spend most of my day in school. im a chemistry student so that gives you an idea ! however, this problem occurs weather i eat enough or not. i dont know if this is the right section to post this thread but i would like someone to fill me in.
thanx folks

I won't even pretend to know even half of what the other guys on here do, but maybe you need some carbs before you workout?

of course we can't pinpoint exactly why your feeling gassed but in my experience the time off, loss of muscle and I just bet you, general lack of calories could be it. for me at a lighter weight eating an hour or so before and half way thru really helps, otherwise I also have felt the symptoms you mentioned, its an easy fix if it works. small protein bar, 1/2 peanut butter sandwich whatever doesn't make you sick!

I used to feel the same way...Sense I knew that we use carbs for energy...guess what I did. You guessed it. I Increased my carbs in the meal(s) leading up to my workout. I use complex carbs and I try to get in at LEAST 50g of carbs per meal (I usually do this for the 2 meals before a training session)...I shoot for 80g of carbs/meal. This gives me all the energy I need to finish my workout.

Eat a little over 1 hr before working out. Any sooner you might get indigestion. I also notice a big difference when I take BCAA's 1hr - 45 minutes before working out. A lot of people use the good old caffeine trick, drink some coffee before working out but of course it's short lived. BCAAs seem to last longer and I also mix it in with my drink/water to drink while working out a sip at a time.
