Bad disc at L5 s1
Hey guys,
long story but i will give the shorter version. I have a very degenerative disc at l5 s1. About 40 percent space left. About 2 years ago something happened at the gym that was the straw that broke the camels back and i was in excruciating pain for about 6 months before i decided to see a Nero surgeon and get the mri done. I saw about 7 different surgeon and got a real mixed bag of opinions Most wanted to fuse the segment. At any rate i chose not to and started to do PT the McKenzie Method. This worked and made most of the disc pain go away but made my hips and lower back very sore to the point i couldnt stand sit or lay down for any period of time with out being very uncomfortable. MY PT told me it was normal and i would need to continue to do theses exercises forever. I have stopped doing them for 6 months now and my back feels better than it has in years but my hips still get very sore. My hips were never sore before doing the PT. Any ideas how to help with the hips?

Anti inflammatory may help. Have you been to a chiropractor or anything? You may be out of aligned. I have had 2 back surgeries done and still need the occasional adjustment. It has helped me a lot but it's hard to find a good one who does not want you to come back regularly. Go until you feel better. If it gets worse stop and find someone else.
Light stretching, exercises and ice can also help. If it's a sciatic issue use ice a lot. 3x a day 20 min on, 20 off 3 or 4x in a row. You can also use prednisone for the sciatic nerve if ice does not help after a few days.

I've tried the strongest anti-inflammatory and it doesn't even make an impact. I've been to the cheiprocator and they put my back in but it constantly comes out again lol
Thanks for the advice! Haven't tried ice but heat definitely helps!

NOOOO! Why does everyone use heat for back problems. Most of the pain is from inflamation and muscle strain. Heat will only aggrivate this situation. You want to ice to bring down swelling and inflamation.
Try an inversion table...they are miracle workers. Also lay on your back with your ass up against the couch and your legs up un the couch cushions. This will help to relieve pressure from your lower back and hips.
Moderate routine cardio such as swimming and cycling also help!
