    Chain reaction injury

While running on the treadmill my right calf got wicked tight and I decided to run through it. Mistake 1. The calf possibly ripped because at the end of the day I had a bruise that looked like pooled blood. Mistake 2. It didn't hurt too much so the following week I kept lifting and running on it for fear of losing what little gains I had. Now I'm faced with mistake 3. From what I can only see as me subconsciously babying the right leg my left knee and ankle are swollen and hurt even while laying down. I'm still afraid to stop and found some pain killers that make it bearable. I want to keep going.

Any personal testimony on how to proceed?

three years ago, there or abouts, i was buying some steel plate out the back of a guys truck (from Craigslist). I ended up feeling something pop in the back of my left leg. felt like a bungee chord snapping. not much pain, more like i was being hit with a cattle prod. Long story short, i had a footballl size black bruise on the back of my leg. I stopped all leg exercise for quite awhile. No pain killers. It eventually healed, what ever it was (never went to the doctor). Able to hit legs hard again.

    Advice?
Get offf the pain killers. That's not the path you want to go down.
Let it rest. do not keep going. the pain is there for a reason. Healing cannot happen if you keep exercising.
Ice/heat the area, whatever works best for you.

This thing wouldn't have been nearly as bad except you stubbornly refuse to stop. But you will stop at some point. Depends on how much more damage you want to do.

    Good luck!

Your right about it all. I have stopped and it's killing me but I don't want to end up doing any more damage than I already have. Appreciate the reply. Just gotta remember I'm not as young as I used to be lol.
