Wide grip pull ups work wonders for back width (as well as pull downs) I like to throw in a drop set of pull downs every so often of the pull downs as well

Deads, Rows and Pull-ups/downs have made my back explode...
Deads warm up to one working set heavy 6-8 reps
Pull-up/downs: warm ups to one working rest paused set of 10-15 (lift to failure - 15 deep breaths, lift to failure - 15 deep breaths, lift to failure) generally 8, 6, 4
    Rows same idea as pull-ups/downs.

It lets you go very heavy and keeps you from overtraining.

    One more thing... actually 2...

1-Use straps or hooks... don't limit your back development by the strength of your grip.

2-I have a rotation with three different sets of back width and back thickness that get rotated each week so I don't do the same exercises again until the forth week.

You an PM me your e-mail if you like and I can return my workout spreadsheet if you like.

It is hard to say why this is not working so well... A lot of people dont focus on the back muscle contracting when doing the exercise ... You may need to drop the weight and really focus on flexing those muscles when training...

    good luck
