    Seated or Standing?

  5. #5
Seated, the reason i ask is because i'm getting pretty frustrated with the strength of my shoulders and wanted to see what some of you guys were lifting on here. Looking at my delts they really don't appear to be lagging in comparison to the rest of my body structure, but my shoulders are probably my weakest body part. I'm 5'11", 206lb, and i'm only able to do 80 for 5 reps, and thats with a spot to help start my first rep. Meanwhile theirs guys at my gym that are smaller then me lifting 95lb dumbbells for 4-6reps which is really kinda irritating. To me 95lbs per shoulder seems like a pretty impressive lift especially for guys that are like 165-180 which is how big the guys are at my gym that are throwing the 95's up. I just wanted to compare that with what some of you guys are lifting to see if thats a respectable weight or if i'm just weak in my shoulders.

  8. #8
Most I can get was 100s for 10

  9. #9
chest your a big guy too are you not? See that pisses me off i hate how those small bastards are lifting more then me. So far from this thread the general impression i'm getting is that anything near 100lb dumbbells is pretty impressive. I just wanted to check what u guys were lifting beings i see these smaller guys throwing up almost 100lb dumbbells i wanted to make sure people on here weren't putting up like 120's or something cause then i'd have alot of work to do.

I'm right there with you, motoxer!! My seated shoulder press is about right where you are, and I'm no small guy either.

Damn, you guys are animals. I'm only getting 80s right now, but I am cutting, so I'm not too disappointed with that.

    85-10
    90-8
    95-6
    95-4

Some people do 'em wierd though. There is this dude at our gym who puts up like 120 but he leans so far back that it is more like a incline press. I'm not gunna say anything. haha

100's for about 10-12 for 4 sets. Would prefer going heavier, but the gym doesn't have any heaveir dumbells.

    PB is 120's for 8

Now I do a modified Arnold press and have seen GREAT results......Highest I go now is 90-95 for 6-8. These presses burn the %$#@ out of your shoulders-front and side.

Man, there are so many factors for a real comparison on something like this. What did you work before shoulders? Size, any previous injuries, where do you put shoulders in your workout week, having a spotter, etc. etc.

Don't get too hung up on it motoxer - just keep tryin to progress.
