When I work-out I yawn alot. Really deep, good ones. The kind that make your eyes water. I have plenty of strength and I get enough rest, but they always come when i'm lifting. Anybody know the physiology behind this?
It's gettin kinda dumb.

i get the same thing, bump!
Yawning is usually a physiologic response to decreased levels of oxygen and increased levels of carbon dioxide in the blood. This happens when we're bored or tired due to decreased respirations. I can also see this situation arising when we're working out. Not necessarily cause we're taking in less breaths, but due to the metabolism of glucose that is occuring.
I yawn like a son-of-a-bitch when I work out.
Or perhaps if you are active in heavy resistance training with poor cardiovascular health...Originally Posted by sinista63
I would suggest you start getting your cardio numbers up so your body is better equiped to be active. Shortening your rest intervals during weight training can help too.
Personally, I don't think you should be yawning at all. And it could be a sign that your cardiovascular health his not as advanced as your anaerobic strength. Do you even break a sweat in the gym? I have never seen anyone in the gym sweatin' 110% ball-bustin' effort and start yawning. You could be overtraining yourself into a rut as well...
Makes sense. That's pretty much what I thought, just wanted another's answer. Appreciate it fellas.
yep i yawn when working out.
ditto...me too..never thought it was that common
i have the same thing and I always wonder why
At least I'm not alone I used to think that it meant I wasn't getting enough sleep or wasn't pushing myself hard enough
once in a while this happens.. not to often
Every time. Glad someone spoke up.
I yawned just reading this thread.
I've made a habit of getting to the gym earlier 6pm instead of 8pm. I also get at least 8hrs sleep EN.
This has made all the difference in the world. No more yawns for me.
Same with me....Always thought I was just a pussy and needed to workout harder lol...never thought to post about it.
I also yanw as well, always wondered about it but not enough toask i guess? Glad to see its pretty common
like a mofo bro, like a mofo
I'm so f**king happy Ya'll yawn too! I thought I was a pussy, and I'd get mad and try harder then I'd f**king yawn even more!
Thanx for the responses fellas!
same herebut only during really good workouts
I would always step up the intesity because i thought my yawning was due to lack of intesity.
Yet you continued to yawn?Originally Posted by Animal505

i yawn like i should be paid for it.
i always have this uneasy feeling in the back of my throat. even if im on the treadmill sprinting i have that feeling in my throat and yawning is all that will fix it. i noticed i also do half yawn wherei yawn but i dont feel that back of my lungs stretch open and i have to yawn again and again till it goes away. i didnt awlays use to do it, but some how i cant stop it now. i think its like cracking your knuckles, one you start doing it your body becomes uncomfortable not doing it, so your driven to do it more.
