Red face new training partner new split thoughts please ?

next week im starting to train with a friend from another local gym,he is same heigt a little heavier than me but he lifts a little more than me so i figured it would give me the push to cath up to him rather my other training partner who is slightly smaller anyway

he pretty much does the exact same split as me :
    monday - chest triceps
    tuesday - shoulders abs
    thursday - back and biceps
    friday - legs

yesterday i spoke to him he is asking if i fancied a totally new routine which is :

    monday - chest biceps
    tuesday - shoulders back
    wed - off
    thursday - triceps abs
    friday - legs

the split i do is what i have always did so im new to anything else,
whats got me thinking is biceps monday and back tuesday, im more or less using bis both days am i not, well not to the intensity on back day but still used none the less,

are there any advantages or disadvantages of this split over mine ?

    thanks . . . . . allan

Dude I totally disagree with doing shoulders the day after chest. If you his chest really hard your shoulders will be wasted as well and 24 hrs is nowhere near long enough for them to recover. I also dont think you can hit shoulders AND back adequately enough in the same workout. I prefer this split

    Mon Chest/Biceps
    Tues BacK
    Wed Off
    Thur Shoulders/Triceps
    Friday Legs

I just had a few weeks off due to illness. I hit chest hard on Monday last week. I did shoulders on Thurs and I still had trouble getting warmed up from the pain of the Monday chest workout
