That's kind of a loaded question. You need to state why you're doing your cardio? and by that I mean what's your ultimate goal...for fat loss? or for improved VO2 max (improving endurance) If you're trying to improve your cardio then fartlek training is the best way to do this (HIT cardio) Fat loss?- stay at a constant 60-75%MHR for an hour or so everyday.

well like he said 60-75% max heart rate...I do a light run on a treadmill or a decent pace on the stationary bike. Ideally this would be done on an empty stomach. Personally if done on an empty stomach I think 30 minutes is plenty at 3-4 times a week, as long as this is coupled with a well planned cutting diet you should see good results that will be easy to maintain later on.

If you want to lose fat you should be doing low intensity cardio for a longer period of time. Power walk on the treadmill for an hour if you have the time, by using lower intensity you will be burning more calories from fat. If you dont have a lot of time then do high intensity, that will burn more calories but wont tap into fat energy.
