Is 5 exercise or 17 sets for hamstrings overtrainin'?
17 sets or 5 exercises for hammies alone? Jesus I can't even think of how to do that many exercises for hamstrings, ur buggin. Hamstring curls, deadlifts and lunges take care of mine pretttyy good.
I think 17 sets is excessive
It ***ends on what angle your hips are at when you perform a particular exercise. With trunk flexion some of the muscles in the hamstrings will be activated and others wont. Same with trunk extensions, just ***ends if your doing various angles when your training
a lot of people do 12-15 sets for biceps and it is 1/4 th the sice of the hamsrting.
I do 15 sets on hammie day
I do deep squats and lunges on leg day which get hamstring activation and on hammie/back day I do heavy deads/straight leg deads/ leg curls
Well, I did 3 sets of seated leg curls, 5 sets of lunges, 3 sets of deep hack squat, 3 sets of single leg curl and 3 sets of stiff legged.
Using that logic, you should also do about 15 sets for your quads and 15 sets for your calves, which equals 45 sets!! You're an animal!Originally Posted by FasterPussyCat
The 17 sets is alot. But that is a good variety of exercises to mix and hit the hams at different angles. On my ham day, I sometimes pre exhaust the hams with 4 sets of leg curls and then do 5 or 6 sets of stiff leg deads. The SLDL is the king of ham exercises! The big question is how often do you do this workout, once a week?
Yeah, once a week. I tried cuttin' it down, but it feels like I wasn't doin' enough. I did 4 sets of leg curl, 3 sets of stiff legged and 4 sets of one legged curl.
That seems a lot to me... also seems like you could go a LOT heavier if you do that much but to each his own.
Only 2 exercise are needed for the hams.
