    ? Regarding Target Heart Rate

According to the appropriate calculations 220 - 26 (age) x 0.70 = 135.8. 136 BPM should be what I need to be hitting to be burning body fat at 70% of my heart rate. Now I know this is when your burning body fat most efficiently. My question is, if you are exceeding this and going to lets say 85% or 90% would you still be burning fat? I know you would be ***leting your muscle, but would you still be burning fat and would it be as much as you would at the 70%?

I know this is old but, instead of starting a new one I figured I would ask here. Does anyone else feel that when they are performing any type of cardio that the THR is too low? Just curious because unless I'm at around 155-170 I feel like I'm just not getting worked. I'm going by the formula of 220-age (30) *.70

I guess my question is, If I hover above the "Weight loss" THR in the "Cardiovascular" zone is Fat burning not as effective?

Here is my two cents: I needed to lose weight and did so very effectively by keeping my MHR at or very near 70%. I bought a Polar heart rate monitor since and kept my cardio sessions to 30 to 45 minutes at 70%. I lost a sh*t ton of weight by doing this.

It does work. At first I felt as if I wasn't getting a good cardio session in because I didn't feel like my lungs were going to burst and I was going to pass out from exhaustion. The Polar web site had good info on the MHR ranges and how they work.

I also mix in a higher intensity session 1-2 times a week to keep my cardiovascular endurance up because of my profession. Good luck.
