Looking for a new Workout Routine

Alright guys, ive been training and lifting since highschool and i have a question regarding my current routine. I am kind of a newb to the more advanced weight lifting so ide appreciate IF the flames were low. For the longest time i was performing a routine 5 days a week. Mon/wed/fri i would do upper body (shoulders, traps, biceps, tri's, forearms, upper back etc) AND tues/thurs i would do lower body (hams, quads, abs, core, lower back), while saving my cardio and plyometrics for saturday and sunday. This workout seemed to work well for me until my training began to get more intense. I seemed to stop making the gains i wanted, my recovery time isnt as fast as it used to be. And am now currently exploring the options of more split routine, were as i give my muscles more time to recover. I hear that for muscles to grow you have to atleast a 48 hour recovery period. The thing is i am not really interested in size for body building or power lifting. I am looking for an over all balance of the muscles in my body. Strength is my main concern with more athleticism. I know size will come but looking good really isnt on my mind. I am a college athlete and would like to make more gains in strength, speed, quickness, balance, agility etc. I respect all of yalls opinions on this message board and will eagerly appreciate any advice yall have. Thanks for yalls time, Godspeed.

Check out that thread though, and pick a certain style of training. Then, ask questions about the particular routine. Also, don't be scared to change something around in a workout, so that it fits your needs better.
