    Sleep

I know at least 8 hours is optimal but I just have a hard time getting it with my schedule. I usually get 6-7, is the 1-2 hours I'm missing detrimintal to recovery or should I be ok?

It also depends on your physical and mental toll through the day. I haven't seen 7 hours sleep in about 4 years but then again i don't physically drain myself through the day too much and my training is progressing as scheduled.
Listen to your body. It will tell you when you need a break. If you say,"man, i really don't feel like going today" to yourself, then you probably shouldn't.
    Just my take.

Good advice. Yeah my job has zero phyiscal strain. Cardio in morning and lifting in afternoon are my only physical outlets. I pretty much have to force myself to stay out of the gym seven days a week and stay on my 5 day schedule.

There's a difference between your body telling you to slow down and rest and you telling yourself " I dont feel like going today". You ahve to push yourself. 8 hours is ideal, i cant remember last time i slept more than 7 hours.

I'm just one of those guys who needs 8-9 hours. I went from 7 hours to 8-9 hours sleep and it is making a noticeable difference for me.

I got about 6 a night and a solid 2 hour nap during the day. 8 a night would be nice but I would have to go to bed at 8:00 to achieve that. The 2 hour nap really seems to help though.
