Which one do you prefer to do and why? Which one leads to better shoulder development?

In front, much safer on the shoulder joint. The risk vs benefit of behind the neck shoulder press in my opinion is not worth it.
I prefer doing front, it feels more confortable plus doing it back hurts my shoulder and neck.
I always go in the front but if i do go behind the head it very light.
Behind the head stretches the shoulder out more, which could be benificial, but like MuscleScience said, the risk vs. reward is not appealing to me. You use your shoulders all the time, so its not worth risking an injury to get a better stretch.
yeah i agree you can get a good work out from behind the head but it is not normally advisable as it can cause strain along the back of the neck, i would suggest if you really want to do it behind your head then stick to light weights and more reps, but if this conflicts with your training regime stick to the front as you will still get a good work out, just try not to arch your back, i own a small gym and i see people doing this excercise alot and doing it in bad form a lot as well. I'm rubbish at knowledge of the ar's but if you need any advice on technique etc just pm me, if i cant answer the question i work with a lot of pt's that can help
I do fronts BB, if i do rear i use smith.
Use dumbells and split the difference.
I've been doing DB almost exclusively the past month or two and really like being able to bring them down in front of my ear.
When I do BB I never go behind anymore. It just feels like my shoulder is going to pop out of joint when I go to even a moderate amount of weight.
