    Deadlifts

Ok i am short, short arms and doing dead is kinda a pain but i get through it. Whats really getting old is the rash on the shins week after week. Just as they heal , the next session comes around and i just rip them open again. You guys use anything to combat this ? I really dont want to wear long pants because after my deads i squat and i feel more comfortable in shorts.

Scars on the shins are a point of pride!

I've used these and they are great to combat the cuts/bruises:

Another idea that I just thought about, but I haven't tried it and may try it tommorrow as it is my leg day.

Use the pad that some gyms have for doing squats to cover the bar. Your grip should be on the outside of it and it might be wide enough to cover the shins.

I use talc, but yours sounds quite bad.
The good thing with talc is you just wipe it off after.......

I have a hell of a lot of battle scars from my shins up but I rarely skin them up anymore and I always wear shorts with low cut socks.

I usually just throw some chalk on my shins, that way if it did rub, it has a bit more tendency to glide.
Maybe try standing a bit wider (sumo) and about 1-1.5" from the bar.

I'm pulling 588 without any problems.

How is removing the hair from my legs going to stop the bar from stealing all my skin

I was wondering the same thing. I think the high socks might be youre best option. Pants have never helped me out very much, i just end up staining them when I rip open my scabs. lol.

On another note, what type of rep ranges and % of ME are you using if you're deadlifting and squating on the same day?

same reason we shaved down for speed skating. Hair pulls like crazy during abrasions and causes a lot of trama to the skin. Instead of pulling hairs out as you drag the bar up the leg, it will slide on skin.

grab a handful of leg hair and rip it out, then tell me how inflamed it gets.

It also opens up skin and will allow bacteria to get into the follicle causing folliculitis.

    I rotate each week

    week 1 :
Heavy squats 6-8 reps 3 sets
    rack deads 8 reps

    week 2:
    Heavy floor deadlifts 8 reps
light squats 12 reps (sometimes more) with drop sets

    Word.

Well, the METAL socks are the way to go if you're that concerned with a few bumps and scratches.
