    too many calories?

Hey! I was wandering if there is such a thing as to many calories. I eat and eat mainly cause I wanna get bigger but it seems latley I'm starting to get luvhandles, lol. I do sit ups often but it doesn't seem like my abs are showing as much as they should.

I work out 4-5 times a week and while my upper body looks good I got these luvhandles that I can't seem to trim up. So, I guess my questioin is am I eating too much or do I need to do a certain exercise for this?

if you wanna get bigger u need a surplus of calories aka execess

The key is to calculate your needs and then add 500 calories over maintanence. Eating clean foods like protien with lower concentrations of fat and low glycemic carbs you will gain minimal fat. by adding low intesity cardio 2-3 days a week this will assist keeping fat off and because its low intesity it will not affect your gains.

If you wanna have abs you need to have lower bodyfat, this is key!

so pick one gain muscle or loose fat. Its nearly impossible to do both unless your on gear.

    Hope this helps

all depends on your body, for me eating excess calories, just makes me go take a dump like 4-5 times a day, while others it stores it as fat... gotta understand your body,

if your gaining love handles then it could be either your eating to many calories

or or macro ratios in your diet arent very good

e.g ur protein isnt high enough or not portioned and timed well

e.g your carbs are to high, not timed well, or the wrong carb sources

e.g or your fats are to high, not enough fats, etc

    your combination of the above

BTW this is the workout section, so ur prob better off going to the diet section and getting feedback there

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I think I might be eating to many foods high in fat because I usually eat on the go at work. Bunch of fast food. I guess I need to start bringing my lunch with me. As for the gear, I'll prob be getting some here in the next couple months. I've been workin out steady for 3 years and I'm 25 so I'll prob react to it very well. Just hope I don't get jacked as this is my first time doing it this way. Anyways, thanks for the advice.

Well there's your problem. Fast food is terrible, even while bulking. I can eat 3500+ clean calories per day and stay lean while adding some good LBM. 3500+ of junk food and I get fat. A lot of clean food is key

I had a similiar experience, before I started to lift weights I weighed 133 pounds, everyone keept telling me to eat 3500/4000 calories a day, huge mistake I gained muscle but tons of fat with it, It's started to level out but now I learend my lesson to carefully calculate your BMR and eat +500, watch your calories and test it from week to week, that's what i do.
