    Behind the neck Military

I always used to do front Military press for no other reason then I would always hear behind the neck is back for your neck and shoulders. I recently read a few articles saying this is a myth, and as long as you don't have any shoulder or neck injurys you should be fine, and behind the neck will hit the side delts more making your overall shoulder look bigger. I recently got a home gym and was nervous doing shoulder press without a spotter. After reading the artcles about behind the neck I realized I could adjust all the pegs so I could do behind the neck without a spotter and not worry about dropping the weight on my head. Long story short is it felt great and after my workout I looked in the mirror and my side delts looked hudge, bulging out of the side of my body it really made my shoulder look great. My question is do any of you guys do behind the neck, and is it really just as safe as infront of the head?

I'm tooo scared... Na used to but I jact up my rotar a looong time ago on flat bench. Just started doin flat bench again it felt pretty good. I've notice that I have pretty big shoulders but when I'm relaxed they look flat on the front/side guess that may be it? Hmmmm. I do everything else for years. I'm gona try it. Thanks for the post! Hope it makes me grow!

the risk outweighs the benefit for behind the neck press IMO . stick to front of the neck, its nearly the same. i did my rotator cuff once.. ull be sidelined for atleast 8 weeks

i use to do it behind the neck but sorta injured my shoulder doing it so i stopped

i found doing the exercise free weight can be difficult getting the bar into postion and that maitaining strict form is essential

but even then after awhile once you go heavy it can still be difficult, so i stopped doing it for now

might do it once my shoulder heals
