how many people constantly hear "So what do you think of P90X?"

I will say, whoever designed this shit is making millions, smart guy right there. I've been asked by countless #'s of people what I think of P90X or this other one called Insanity. I think its a decent routine for anyone looking to lose weight fast, but I tell them they should include some heavy lifting 2x/wk to keep any muscle atrophy from occurring. But what I dont understand is the hype of this being the best program? I mean its basically just a DVD that motivated people to get off their asses right? It just looks like high intensity interval training to me, not saying that doesn't work but obviously nothing special or new to guys who have been working out for some time. I was just wondering if thats all people are talking about that are new to fitness in other areas besides mine hahahaha.

Kinda like the CrossFit craze that is popular now as well. I am sure a guy could get in great shape doing it but watching them brag about how many swing ups..I mean pull ups they can do drives me nuts.

yeah my buddy gave me the "crossfit is the best" line the other night. And I've heard about the p90x. I'm sure they work also but I would def get ready for a month or so before trying them straight off the couch, and it would prob work good for people with little time and room in there home for say morning workouts. you can get a deal on the p90x on ebay. still an investment though. Plus you need resistence bands and or dumbells which are more , you guessed it $$$$$$$$$$$$

i too am sick of hearing how great crossfit and p90x are. the ONLY reason in my opinion to use them is cut fat and get ripped just like other here mentioned. however, i see a bunch of 180 pound weaklings doing that stuff all the time thinking they will get huge and ripped. obviously, the biggest problem in these dvd's and programs is their complete lack of basic progressive overload!

I have a friend who uses P90X, but the type of person he is he has to do something like that. HE could never do a set and then rest for 2 minutes because he gets too bored.I think some guys and gals have to be mentally stimulated more by a program. for example, powerlifting has always been difficult for me but thats because I'm used to bodybuilding. I'm not used to doing a set of 2 and then resting 5 minutes, it drives me nuts. Probably the same concept w/ interval training vs. overload training

Technically u could follow the diet it comes with and run in place for 60min a day and achieve the same thing as far as weight loss. They did a good job marketing it. They saturated youtube and google with "bot" stories that started a whole Parrot effect. The best marketing I've ever seen. Good for them. I wish I would've thought of it.

Now they have Tony Hortons 10 min workout? It baffles me that they did so good marketing p90x that they want to go and hurt the rep they got with marketing this. I guess if u bealive the BS on that infomercial u deserve to be ripped off.

I actually got into an argument with a bunch of people who are pretty clueless ( the main customer base of any fad diet or workout) and tried to tell them it was a giant marketing scam. There is nothing revolutionary about getting off your ass and into the gym and losing weight! Wow! Who would have thunk it!

You know they say there is a sucker born every minute and P90x just proves it. Lets see some rich guy throws up some cash to put a workout anyone could do together, spends a boatload of money on advertising and celebrity endorsements and all the idiots buy it hook line and sinker.

Meanwhile he is laughing all the way to the bank.

    Only in America.

I here ya bj, this whole generation is hardwired into the machine like it's the matrix or something. Marketing is slammed down your throte or blinking on your screen 24/7. I first saw the info comm for p90 in fla, and I'll admit it was catchy, next thing ya know it's everywhere. But hey if it gets some housewifes off their asses and people thinking about working out it's not all bad.

Agreed. At least ppl are considering a healthy lifestyle into their lives but my view it is too played out . I have some friends doing it and they consider it something phenomenal but nonetheless GOOD FOR THEM

    Insanity

I dont get the insanity DVD. 60 days. I heard people in great shape, trainers, weight lifters , cardio freaks have a hard time with it. I think if you have to be in that good of shape to even do it why would you want to? If im ripped up and in extreamly great shape why the hell would I need that? All those DVD's do is give you a 6 pax. There all skinny twerps when there done.

I did p90x last year for my cut. This program works well but like some have said its just a HIIT concept (tho watching and following along with the dvd helps you stay active and motivated). I do suggest you bench before you start the chest day as its all body weight excercises for chest. Definately improved my functional strength a lot and toned up nicely. I would never suggest someone start this without being on some kinda anabolic tho as you will whither away unless your putting down some SERIOUS kcals.
