Really hot 5 hours after workout

I workout late at night about 3-5hours before I sleep. Whenever I get into bed after I workout I feel really hot and have to take my covers off, no matter how cold it is outside and find it difficult to sleep. Is there a reason for this?

Also I am going overseas for 6 weeks and won't be able to workout... I can workout but won't have much time and will not be able to get to a gym. What are my best options to not lose more muscle than I will by doing nothing?

    Cheers, Aedan.

The heat is from your spiked metabolism due to anaerobic training. It also could be from a latenight meal or protein shake as proteins are harder for the body to break down than carbohydrate and fat so they will spike your metabolism higher since the body must work harder. I would do some sort of circuit training with body weight exercises or use sandbags, backpacks, etc to mimic free weights whenever possible.

Assuming you will be completely unable to train, you could really hit the gym hard, over-training or really pushing it close for several weeks before you leave. That would be your best bet.

I always had the same problem when I worked out late. Energy levels where through the roof from post workout meal causing insulin spike and like said above the metabolism is kickin hard. Try training earlier or taking some melatonin an hour before bed. I started training a few hours earlier and still don't get to bed til midnight or later.
