    Hocky fans!

So ...I went to my first hockey game. Now i tried to watch it on tv before and it was boring. But in person... I have never seen a more exciting event. I have been to football, baseball, boxing and mma (with my friends competing) and still nothing like hockey. And the fans...it was half empty but holy cr@p, they were on their feet and doing chants in unison...it was amazing. Just had to say

Hockey is my favorite sport hands down. I grew up in South Jersey, so I would go to Philadelphia Flyers games at least once a month when I was younger. Amazing time. Looking at the ice shine and hearing the puck hit the stick and glass is awesome.

It is pretty cool to be at an NHL game live...it's even better when you get to be at the play offs.....the feeling is amazing!

Even during the singing of the anthems...American or Canadian.....I sing along with both

He sort of has a dickhead personality, but he's a hell of a defensemen. The two I cannot stand are Crosby and Avery.

I think he is overrated and a puck hog. He is a goal scorer and only plays one way hockey (stereotypical hot shot offensemen). Now, take a look at Alexander Ovechkin. Goal scorer, play maker, brawler, and a real leader. He's 6'3" 245lbs and lays people out on the ice like it's his job. I cannot take anything away from Crosbys talent, but Ovechkin is what I would call an overall team player. (And I'm not a Capitals fan in the least way)

Crosby is a big time scorer, and show up every game. Ovi disappears he lakes heart. All these offensive players who start with only offense later in their carrier they become more defensive . But i think Crosby kills plenty my issue with Ovi is that he disappears some times and not put in effort if things arent going his way and dont get me started on Simmons.

^^ yeah either way, they're both top 10 offensive players within the past 20 years of the NHL. If I had had to put a quick list together off the top of my head---

    1.) Mario Lemeiux
    2.) Wayne Gretzky
    3.) Eric Lindros
    4.) Paul Kariya
    5.) Sidney Crosby
    6.) Alexander Ovechkin
    7.) Peter Forsebeg
    8.) Sergei Federov
    9.) Jaromir Jagar
    10.) Mark Messier

....I probably left a few out

Even Gretzky said Lemieux would have eclipsed him if he had health. Hopefully Crosby will be back in the playoffs so we can see another Ovechkin vs Crosby dual.

That's such a difficult debate. They were both one of a kind. I liked Lemieux's style a little more, but also loved Gretzky.

They were both spectacular to watch. It's definitely a great debate but I agree based on cups, records, points Gretzky was the best. Lemieux did alot in his time too, but his time was shorter, I guess that's the main difference.

Hockey has it all... fast pace, big hits, fights, and players that have at least half a brain and are respectful people (for the most part) that don't get into trouble like you see in other pro sports. Where else do you see two grown men have bare knuckle fights on a hard surface, besides two drunks at a bar, and go back and play more after? What other sports have you seen throats slashed by accident? Hockey players are tough as nails and play 82 games a year.

Is hockey hard? "I don't know, you tell me. We need to have the strength and power of a football player, the stamina of a marathon runner, and the concentration of a brain surgeon. But we need to put all this together while moving at high speeds on a cold and slippery surface while 5 other guys use clubs to try and kill us, oh yeah did I mention that this whole time we're standing on blades 1/8 of an inch thick? Is ice hockey hard? I don't know, you tell me. Next question."

I've been to a few blues games. I love sports but for the life of me can not get into hockey. I've enjoyed myself at the games but more because of the atmosphere of screaming people than because of the game. I grew up no where near hockey and to me it represents cold weather which I don't like so I'm sure that's part of the reason I don't follow it.

I would credit this to hockey being somewhat of a wealthier upperclass sport. You don't see many inner city schools with hockey teams. The rest of the sports such as basketball and football pull kids out of the streets that grew up with crime which leads them to have a different view on them and usually leads to dumb decisions.
