Question Strength (Power Lifting) Vs Definition (Bodybuilding)

Over the last year ive got my Diet Perfect and ive noticed by strength hasnt gone up at all really. Size wise ive gotten bigger which is what i wanted but my strength has stayed around the same.

I was doing 3-4 sets on everything and 6-10 reps.

A buddy of mine who is a trainer and power lifter told me that it would be best to do 3 weeks light weight (10-15 reps) and then 2 weeks Heavy weight
    (3 Reps Max).

What do you guys think? i started doing the 10-15 reps and im on my 3rd week and i feel like ive gotten weaker. I was doing 15 reps at 235 the first week, then 225 the 2nd week and now today i struggled with 225 for 12 the first set then after that the best i got was 7.

Just incorporate more singles, doubles and triples to your workouts and not just typical bodybuilders 8-12 reps. Kinda like Ronnie Coleman was doing, the standard bodybuilder's workout and reps but he also put in some heavy singles, doubles and triples to the powerlifters lifts (bench, squat, deadlift).
