I have always been told that a palms facing out wide grip works the lats better and takes the strain off the biceps. But I am starting to question that with what everyone here is saying.

Underhand pullups incorporate more biceps, in fact I only do these on bicep day.

Neither is better than the other. Each is just more suited for specific goals. Wanna hit your lats? Open up your grip and keep palms away. Bis? Palms toward you.

Try google. There are lots of variations out there.

I thought palms facing out was under hand seeing as your hands are then under the bar??

Yeah but with your hands under the bar your palms would be facing in (towards you), as an overhand grip your palms would be point out (away from you).

both work the lats effectively. overhand works the outer sides of the lats along with the outer bicep. depending on the width of ur hands will determine which part of the back get stressed. But underhand pulls do work the total bic more than overhand. If ur looking for monster lats, i'd stay with wide grip, overhand pulls.

A good routine incorperates all different grips. I would alternate grips each week that way your not doing the same exact thing every single week.
