    I always boil them.

Cut them if you need to (for uniformity). Start by covering them in a pot with cold water. Put on the stove on high and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium/simmer and pierce them with a fork from time to time until they are soft but not mushy.

Strain immediately. You can even bake them from there with seasonings, etc. but I prefer to eat them just boiled.

We always talk about Oats, Sweet Potatoes, and Brown Rice as carbs sources. How do different types of "white" potatoes stack up to the more popular sources. I've never really understood why more people don't eat potatoes....I've just always went the brown rice/oats route b/c everybody says they're the best.

I have eaten 2KG of boiled white potatoes today...

Yeh they have a higher GI than brown rice but I dont give a fuk at the min LOL

If I was dieting and more concerned at keeping insulin to a minimum I would probably be a bit more picky with my carb choices....

Saying that however I would love to do a cut and prove that you can cut on white potatoes, white rice and even chocolate bars as long as carb timing is optimum and planned daily macro intake is achieved....

Agree with Base here. I've been eating red potatoes and white rice for months now. Like Base, I'd probably tighten up on a cut, but that's because I'm anal. The differences would be negligible if you're doing everything else right, IMO.

white potatos convert to sugar more quickly than a yam or a sweet potato, hence the lower gly***ic number of the "non" white potato.

so let's forget about that for a moment. what i like to do, when not paying attention to diet, is get a bunch of the smaller reds, boil them in a pot, and then you can just grab one or two as the mood hits you. they stay in the fridge for a week easily.

I like this, you should do it!!! Kinda reminds me of that recent thread where the dude claimed to eat anything he wanted (ice cream, chips, cookies, etc) and still managed to add muscle and lose fat - all because he was hitting his macros.

I remember that thread and I remember bashing that guy pretty good. My thoughts on that have changed somewhat but one thing that I think is overlooked when people say is "a macro is a macro" is natural vs man-made or genetically altered food.

I just don't believe that you can compare hydrogenated oils to natural fish oil, or that HFCS is as efficient a carb source as oats. Many of the supermarket foods are basically pre-digested before we ever eat them and that makes them inferior IMO from much more than a general health standpoint.

If we're talking about natural or unaltered foods though, I would agree that a macro is a macro.

I wish a carb was a carb and a macro was a macro. My diet has been very easy, but I miss my weekly "newcastle". Are you guys SURE I can't count a beer as a healthy carb? LOL J/K

Yep your right.... hitting quality protein is the only concern but I will find a way to do it.....

Lets make it two meals a day....

Ribeye steak, pizza, pasta, ice cream, chocolate, fruit, milk, white rice, white potatoes....

No low intensity cardio.... All intervals and HIIT...

Any more things you wanna throw at me... this could be fun

ill give it some thought.. dont forget the fries ..may be hard to calculate fat macros with fried food though..

also r there ever instances where macros dont exactly match up to cals and if so r u gonna have to adhere to cals or u going strictly on macros??

Base already answered you but I agree. Aside from overall health, it wouldn't make a difference in your body composition whether a gram of fat comes from cheese in a pizza or a fish oil pill, a gram of carbs from a french fry or oats.

The hard part IMO would be hitting your macros while trying to include all that garbage food.

    Yeh...

The problem with junk food is that it is super calorie dense with either fats or refined carbs.... You could easily eat 1000cals without even thinking about it if you were to go to mc donalds...

I think IF'ing is the best way to do this kind of a diet as you only have a few meals that you need to think about...

    Something like this may work

Pre WO - Baked potato, Steak, cheese and beans - Cottage cheese frozen pudding (cottage cheese with berries)

PWO - Whole pizza with extra chicken on top - Shake with cottage cheese, milk, whey, bannana

I have just realise that I have completely hijacked this thread... Sorry OP
