Just curious. How much time off from lifting does is take for actual size losses to occur?

I'm curious to see what a vet has to say about this to because I heard 2 Weeks at one point but no science to back that up. My Guess is its faster depending on your diet
there is no static answer. it depends on the individual, and also largely on your definition of "detraining". do you mean stop working out but continue diet? or both? what does the individual do for a living or throughout the day? is he/she have an active and physical job? desk job?
it's bro science from here on. but, having said that, perhaps there are some members here that gave up after their cycle and can comment.
Mostly I'm talking about losing mass during a vacation or something like that, continuing to eat enough protein to support mass, but not lifting at all. I've taken a months vacation before and didn't lose anything noticeable, but then again I'm not at a very advanced level.
If I take 3 days off I feel like I lose everything, but my wife tells me I have body dismorphia and its all in my head. I will lose a couple pounds over a weekend if I dont eat or train tho....
I agree. Its going to depend on the person for sureOriginally Posted by MickeyKnox
weight fluctuates, that happens to everyone. Your not losing anything after 3 days.Originally Posted by JAB1

Actual muscle fiber take a long time to be lost if the diet remains, its the water and all the goodies that muscle pumps up with that tend to shed quicker. I went a year without lifting and retained a pretty good percentage of my mass, I did lose strength of course but muscle as memory and it all came back real quick.
It varies from person to person like mentioned above. Usually its a result or how much natural hormones your body produces to sustain the muscle with the addition of proper caloric and protein intake..... loosing strength isnt the same as loosing mass.... your going to loose strenght as a result of loosing glycogen from muscles... happens when training stops... but not necessarily actual muscle fibers...unless your test and hgh levels are low along with a imperfection in diet... hope this helps
