Thread: Muscles take 48-72 hours to recoup.

    So do u really need to take days off?
    Or can u workout
    Chest, back,shoulders, arms, legs 1 day each a week then repeat straight away?
    Without the usual sat/sun as rest days

    Yea you know, you work for example your chest/back.. legs.. shoulders.. arms well after you complete your whole routine though the week.. then repeat... And giving your body rest is important.. i normally take 2 days off a week.. sometimes only one.

    Sound theory but it all really just depends...what volume load you use on a given bodypart and how you target the muscle and how the muscle feels after the rest period time frame you mentioned of two to three days, on my current cycle I can shorten my rest time alot say on chest or shoulders and they do recover and grow faster but if im tired or a bit sore I give it a bit longer though usually I train the bodypart anyways hitting each bodypart twice a week after 48hours or so rest since that's what works best for me personally. Rest and Nutrition is key though, don't feel bad about missing your lifting session, I know how that feels it sucks but you don't want to overtrain or cause injury, just have a extra meal and nutrition load and think of how much you will grow because you fed the muscle and let it fully repair before hitting it again.

    Actually CNS is the limiting factor concerning recovery and always has been.
    If Training is adjusted to this it is no problem training a muscle every day. They get used to higher frequency and adapt.

    True. Large muscle group days like back and legs are very taxing on the CNS so rest is vital for CNS recovery.

    IF you overtax your CNS you could get adrenal failure which your body can't keep up with your workout's. Usually this happens to guys who overtrain on a low calorie diet.
