Should I do cardio before or after weights???
After is best. Since you worked out prior, you would go into "fat burning" mode a lot faster than if you did cardio before lifting. The most effective cardio however, is in the morning on an empty stomach.
There is evidence (I am told) that cardio before weights has a negative impact on your strength gains. As well as your actual potential strength the same day I would assume (glycogen levels, thp levels and such).
I do mine on non lifting days to keep it totally separate. Which is easy for me as I do a 4 day split but might not be so easy for you depending on your schedule.
cardio everyday post weights except on leg days. no cardio at all. agree with austin.
I do 4x(45-60min) cardio sessions a week. Post workout only. I was doing the bike, now I'm using the elliptical
This was suggested by SteM and Aust in my log and its really helped me on my cut! I'd recommend trying it this, do fasted if possible.![]()
More of you is moving on an eliptical. In theory that would make you burn more calories as long as your arms are moving. Your legs have less of a ROM but once you factor the arm movement in and the fact it is (kind of) weight bearing, there you have it.Originally Posted by kaptainkeezy04
Trouble getting to target heart rate? Start with a higher level at a faster pace and work your way down rather than working your way up.

Thanks for the info guys
The way I see it, I want to go into my weights fresh not semi exhausted from doing cardio, I want to throw everything I have with the weights I then maintain a steady pace on a bike for 20mins to keep my heart rate up that extra bit.
I always get on a treadmill on a walk at 15% incline to get my heart rate up to about 150 and then back on for like 30 min after my workout. My heart rates usually at about 160-165 when I finish my workout and I keep it there for the cardio.
I have no problem getting my heart rate up! At level 7, 120ish step per minute, my heart rate sits easy at 140-150!
