a bridge lie on a matt as if you were going to do a sit up... and hoist your rear up in the air, hold it and bring it back down - helps give definition between your hams and your tush
When you reach intermediate level, elevate your feet higher to give you more of a challenge

I find that single leg work like lunges, bulgarian squats and step ups all hit boththe glutes and adductors very hard... don't get too concerned about going heavy - concentrate on form first and increase the weight gradually.

One legged-Leg curls help too, but don't place your knee on the pad.
The Ultimate Glute Exercise: Walking lunges with a barbell. Use weight that you can do atleast 12 reps for each leg.
