    Salt Substitutes/Fillers

Trying to get as much sodium out of my diet as I can. Wondering if anyone here uses that low-salt stuff? Or what use all use to put some flavor back in your diet.

well, why are you trying to drop your sodium levels?? high bp???...

instead of salt, use like a 21 season spicer, theres no sodium in it... also learn to use hot sauce and experiment

What do you mean why? It's summer time...want to be lean as possible for Mem. Day.

Hot Sauce is high in sodium.

I was were looking to get lean by Memorial Day cutting sodium would not even be on my top ten list of things to do. Actually it wouldnt be on my list at all until about 24 hours before my shirt came off.

    Got you.

But should it not become on of the items in my diet I 'monitor' rather than just let hang out there? Diet is already on point as far as ratios just thought I could move some sodium out of it?

I would monitor it and add in enough sodium so you are up to at least 4-6 grams a day. You might bump it up slowly if you are well below those numbers now. A good 1/2 cup of soy sauce added to some ground beef, turkey or chicken is a convenient way to get it.

Okay here is where you have me confused. Enough? Below? I really I NEED sodium in my diet but I why would I add more?

I was asking about cutting but you are recommending not to go below 4-6 grams correct? THEN...cut sodium 24 hours before any event?

P.S. Appreciate you allowing me to leach off your knowledge. Enjoy your posts.

Sodium keeps your muscles full and will help your strength as well. As far as cutting sodium prior to an event, that is only for bodybuilding purposes and needs to be done in conjunction with water and carb manipulation as well. I do not advocate doing a sodium load/deplete to look good for Memorial Day Weekend. What I am saying in a nutshell is as a hard training bodybuilder who is also doing cardio you need sodium in your diet and it has several benefits. You may experience some initial water retension but your body will adjust to this fairly quickly.
