    Really bad cramps doing abs

I was doing abs today on those crunch machines I did a set of 30 took a couple minutes rest then went on to my second set and all of a sudden I get this cramped up feeling right below my navel it was if something in my stomach wanted to bulg out of my skin. So I stopped for a little bit and started again then it hit me again but his time it was right below my sternum the same bulging. I tried to stand up but couldn't muster enoug strength to even stand up just a scary feeling overall. I drank water throughout my workout so I was properly hydrated anyone else ever have this happen or hear of such a thing?

Are they uncontrollable contractions within the abdominals?

i got em after using ab machine as well...yes about 15 seconds or so...i drink a shiat load of water too....last week i got cramps later in the day in whatever muscle group that was targeted that day....this week ok...i'm still trying to figure the common denominator that could have caused the cramping...bicep tendon has been the worse after back workout (lot of pulling) to the point my arms want to stay closed in

If it's involuntary contractions, more than likely this is an electrolyte imbalance - for example, proper calcium levels are required for controlled muscular contractions... abdominal and calve spasms can be very uncomfortable. Be sure you stay well hydrated and get proper mineral support.

I am assuming you get this after doing cardio and then training with weights... staying hydrated will lessen the impact - and if you are not already taking a multi vitamin/mineral, start.

I don't do cardio, but it was after hitting the weights. Electrolyte imbalance I'm gonna look into that thanks for the suggestions. I am taking Nitrix oxide and amino acids.
