Thread: While Pressing?

    While Pressing?

    What do the veterans recommend...

Pressing with back support (Bench back, inclined bench, belt)...

Or letting the stabilizers in the lower back get there workout too?

Personally I feel like I have to use a bench of so sort when I am pressing heavy on with dumbbells. I feel like I can concentrate more on squeezing reps out with the bench behind me than if I am just sitting there unsupported.

I will tell you when completing *non defined movement* then you absolutely want to use the *non defined form and support system* its the best =P

I say anything seated like that should have a bench for support and then Overhead standing barbell press I do w/o any equipment... but then again I never us a belt...

Depends on what you are training for. If you are training for strongman and you need a strong core and stabilizers then seated presses w/o a back support is great. Also standing presses without support is great. Now once the weight gets heavy then put a belt on. But if you are a bodybuilder and only training for the 'look' then supported presses is all you really need. I train for strongman and I do both, but overheads are a main focus in my sport.
