    HIIT post workout.. Firefighter

This question is kind of two fold...

I am a firefighter who is trying to put on lean muscle as well as dramatically increase my cardiovascular strength. I have a 3 year history of fitness training. I am 5'6,170 lbs at %8.

I recently started doing my HIIT workout after I lift. I have been doing my weightlifting then going to the high school track. I put my firefighting gear on and run 8 stadiums with a 40 lb sandbag, then I run 4 standiums with no gear. Would this be considered HIIT? On a 3300 calorie a day diet, would this be ok for building lean mass as well as all the cardiovascular benefits?? Thanks in advance!

Why, so he can put his body into a catabolic state? That much cardio, especially directly after a workout, is counter productive to gaining LBM.

    Stabone speaks the truth here...

I would suggest less intense cardio session 3 times per week on non-training days. HIT and HIIT cardio burns carbohydrates for fuel and over-trains the CNS when comingled with HIT weight training..

Would I be ok to do my HITT in the evenings on lifting days, provided im getting a good amount of carbs during the course of the day? Im doing it mainly for the cardiovascular benefits and job performance rather then the fat loss.
