    1 year of lifting

    Bio:

I lifted quite a bit in high school but got away from it when i went to college. I decided 1 year ago that I was going to quite smoking and start working out. I'm 5'8" and at that time i weight around 165 pounds and i'd guess around 25 percent body fat. I started lifting and bulking up i got up to around 185 at 20% bf. I then decided to trim down for the summer so I started to mix in my cardio and I switched up my workout. I dropped to around 172ish and i have no idea on the bf%. I'm back to bulking up right now. Last night I weighed in at 198.6 at 20% bf. I'd like to get up to 210 and then trim down to 12% bf. I'm completely new here so I decided to start here by showing you guys what i look like and getting some opinions from you all. I wish i had some good before pics but i didn't take any at the time. I took some pics last night to post. I guess what i'm looking for is suggestions and opinions - what are my strong points, what should I work on. Anyway, enough rambling. Here are my pics.

    Thanks for your time!

Keep training hard you have a good base to work with. More cardio if you want to tone up. Looks like you are on the right track. Welcome!

Nice base for only a year of training.

The legs need some work... I cant tell for sure but the calves are lagging...

You need upper pecs. And traps...

    And obviously youre gonna cut...

Looks good for a year bro... Keep up the good work!

Lats seem to be a strong point for you, from what I can see I would work on Bi's/shoulders/traps/chest. Legs seem to be in propotion to the rest of your body from my view, could use a little work.

    how is your diet?
what I would do is a lean bulk if I were you, that way you don't have to work so hard when you go to cut and risk losing alot of muscle.

when i first started a year ago my max bench was about 170ish, I can put up 240 for a 1rm right now. I prefer using db's though, i use the 90's and do sets of 8.

also i've had bad knees for quite a while, i've been working slowly to strengthen the muscles around them and slowly get back into squatting. About 5 months ago my max squat was 250. Last week I put up 335 8 times, i'm guessing my 1rm to be around 400.

well I will say when i was having my body fat taken, the girl was askin me if i had any, i don't really have any in my arms or legs, i carry bout all of it in my midsection, specially right now because i'm trying to gain weight so i'm eating everything in sight, mainly clean though, however i do know it's more important to eat something unhealthy then not to eat. My midsection is hidden pretty well in most those pics. That's definitely something i want that i've never had which is a ripped stomach, but that's the next step.

found a few old pics that you guys can use as a before shot, not me posing or anything, but i'm in a wife beater so you can get a pretty good idea.

oh, by the way, I greatly appreciate you guys taking the time to give me your feedback and suggestions.

You are looking good dude - for 20% BF not too flabby must be well distributed. I'f i WERE YOU i'D CUT NOW TO GET THE BF DOWN A FEW POINTS THEN GO FOR A CYCLE. iF YOU DO A RADICAL DIET LIKE ckd YOU CAN DROP THAT BF TO 15% IN 2-3 MONTHS. 3 MONTHS FOR A CYCLE AND NEXT SUMMER YOU'LL BE BROLIC! (Sorry about the caps lock) Anyway - hella good work in 1 year!
