    DB presses

Do any of you "click" the Dbs together when doing DB bench presses or shoulder presses?

depends on how heavy im going...with higher weight db's at my gym are rubber so they extend further out...causing them to touch no matter what. You shouldnt touch them tho....... just push and contract the muscle...clicking the dbs together is annoying to others and probably means your going too fast. I see people all the time just throwing them up and smacking them at the top...using the momentum to go back down and up..You want to contract your muscle..go slower....squeeze that shit.

    Blanket statement.

Personally I no longer 'clink' 'em, because i no longer lock out.

I "hit them together" everytime i workout. Not a crazy hit, just a light hit. And i don't think it's locking out cause i don't. I just don't want to expend energy keeping them from hitting each other. I'd rather they smack together a little than me spend that energy to keep them from doing so.
And no...I'm not doing it to get energy for the press itself. I keep it nice and clean. Well, for the most part anyway.

On the last rep on heavy presses I like to touch them together very gentlely at the top to finish things off.

If they arent rubber don't hit them together. I had one chip , debris fell in my eye and the DB almost took my head off

should you not go all the way to the top? I see alot of bodybuilders in videos only goin about half way to fulll arm extension - is it not necessary?

Its keeps constant tension on the muscle if you dont lock out.

i have never seen any point or rationalization to bringing them together at top.....if your dumbells are moving that close together at the top of the movement, then you are actually taking stress off of the chest...

some say its to get a squeeze for the inner chest....crap...if i want to work inner chest, then i do exercises where i can really work inner chest.....

the whole point to DB presses is the increased range of motion and independent movement.....i focus on the bottom end of the movement, getting deeeeep, under control, then a nice upward movement keepin the weight on those pecs the whole time...

The DBs at my gym are rubber coated so no annoying clink noise. Although I do my best not to hit them together anyway.

I lightly touch them together, just seems like I have more control of the dumbells this way.
