    Age to start lifting??

    So my little cousin wants to start training with me. His stats are as followed
    14yo
    5'7"
    130lbs
    I guess his bf to be around 16-17%
    anyways I'm not sure if it's ok for him to start lifting at such a young age. I don't want to mess with his growth as far as height goes. The kid is disciplined, a very rare trait at his age and I'm sure he'll grow with the right diet and training regime, plus I get a spotter everyday. Thanks in advance

    I don't see any harm. I started lifting at a very early age. I love it. Great place for venting and getting the stress and anger out.

    He should be o.k. to start lifting weights...be careful with heavy weightlifting though because if he injures or damages his bones or growth plates then they will not grow to full length. I started lifting around 13 or 14 myself, so I think its ok for him to go ahead and start. Perhaps he could spend the first year or two really practicing proper lifting technique and form, then by the time he is 15 or 16 he could start focusing on strength training

    start him off on a circuit routine high reps.... cardio...good diet...and all COMPOUND LIFTS!...stress form MORE THAN ANYTHING

    I wish my brother would have done this with me when we were young instead of the ridicule and beatings.
