    water problem for the experts

I drink tons of water per day. Idk how much exactly but I would say a gallon at least. anyway here lies the problem: I go to sleep and no matter how much water I drink before I go to sleep I wake up parched. I am so thirsty in the morning. I wake up and my whole body is deflated and flat. I cannot for the life of me replenish my thirst. I drink tons of water but all that happens is I piss every three minutes. I still feel dehydrated and my muscles are flat for a very long period of time, until about 4 in the afternoon. I think it has something to do with my diet which is good but only low gi carbs, and I am cutting to try to get down to 6%bf; I am 8 right now. I think it may because I am carb depleted in the morning because my last two meals are no carbs. any ideas how to get that full look?

Bottled water is devoid of salts and minerals. The body needs these in order for water to be properly absorbed. If you drink lots of purified water it will actually pull salts from your body. Thus making it harder for you to actually absorb the water that you drink.

Ok well I would say 1/4 of the water I drink is bottled, the rest is tap water that I refill bottles with from water fountains?

I dont know if this is an issue from lack of sodium. I would have to see your entire diet to know for sure. Unless you are eating alot of carbs and fats at night you ARE going to wake up flat. Trust me, just about all of us do and it does take a few meals to fill out. At higher levels of bodyfat this is not noticable but as you get leaner you can see your body change with each meal you eat. If you are at 8% you will definately see a flat look upon waking. Perfectly normal and nothing to worry about. I am well into single digit bodyfat levels right now as well and wake up with an entirely different look I went to bed with. I am also dropping 5.6-5.8lbs from my night weight to my morning weight right now. Most is water, but also a function of the metabolism speeding along. What is your night/morning weight difference?

I don't own a scale so i have no idea... my weight is very steady 160 after the first three or so meals (gym). I also wake up, drink water and shake then go back to sleep. if that helps at all. I don't add any sodium to my meals. My meals are pretty much just raw ingredients with no seasoning or anything.

As musclescience stated, this doesnt sound like a problem from sodium depletion. If looking full first thing in the morning is important to you (not sure why it would be) you are going to have to take in quite a few more carbs and/or fat the day before including your PM meals. Even when carbing up for a show I still wake up fairly flat and need to eat once or twice to begin fill out.

I don't fill out for quite some time after. Sometimes I don't fill out till my workout. I am not concerned that much just wondering if I am depriving my body of something important. also if I walk around 60% of the time flat then that is what I look like, most people see me when I am flat (girls and I am in college) and it sucks.

You say you dont fill out till your workout? Whats the problem LOL?

Wait till you get to 225 buddy and go on 30g carb the ENTIRE day then see if you ever fill out.

Not too big of a problem, just saying I am not competing, I am doing this to look good. If I look flat then kinda defeats the point... Anyway so you think more carbs in the am would help?

oh and thanks for responding guys I appreciate it

Bottom line is you cant get to 6% bodyfat without being flat 95% of the time. Heck, when I diet down for a show I am flat for 3 months straight. Now, 95% of the guys in your gym probably dont have an eye well trained enough to know a flat look from a carbed up look, do you honestly believe for one minute that there is some girl at your college saying "Damn, Twist sure is cute but he sure looks flat in the morning. Think I will find someone else to go out with this weekend".
