I'm wondering how much more effective my workout would be if I did back/bi's and chest/tri's as opposed to having a day for back, one for chest, and one for arms?

It honestly comes down to what you can handle. Most people do splits like this but by the time they actually get to that second bodypart there burnt from the 1st 1 and cannot give enough to the second.
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT!!!
I have just started to work 2 bodyparts a day after years of training. And this is because I need a change plus I can only hit the gym 3-4 times a week with my schedule. Ill try this for a year. If my gains are noticeable I may stick to it .
I used to do back and bis , chest and tris, etc. BUt when i changed it up to just chest then just back i made better gains. I will be switching back soon just to see how it goes again. It all depends on how YOUR body responds
for the past 3 weeks Ive been doing the chest/tris, back bis routine. Strenght is there as well as form. But last week I changed to chest/bis and back/tris and got a lot stronger. Maybe I hit a plateau and this broke it???
Now I feel as strong as hell!!! Maybe every last week of the month change everything up throwing your body into shock. Your body is smart as hell and gets used to workouts fast.
Come to think of it, since I changed it up, my strength all around has gone up. This also might be the spawn too, lol......
I like switching it up from one bodypart/day to push/pull/legs every couple of months or so, just to keep the body guessing
back/biceps is doable but chest and tri's fvcking sucks. tri's are totally fatigued after 3 sets of flat bench. I would reccomend shoulders/triceps.
