Need a recommendation for Brown Rice

So I am really happy with my cutting diet. That is except for this friggin brown rice. It SUCKS. part of the reason is I can't figure out how to cook it.
I tried the directions and they dont work. Not even close. Nothing gets this stuff done right and even when I get it close it still tastes like cardboard.

Currently using the minute rice in the brown box. Let me know what to switch to please!! I have got to stop forcing this stuff down! LOL

    Must be microwave friendly.

    WANTED:
Man seeking brown rice - I dont have to love you but I can't hate you either. You have to be ready anytime I am, get hot in the microwave and give me the results I need. I don't want to spend a lot of money on you. Tasting good is a requirement. Please reply to: this thread.

    Thanks

i would just go for basmati rice instead, the GI is not too much higher.

Brown Rice sucks, you are rite!

Y dont u get a 20 liter stock pot and cook up 1 KG at a time, keep in the fridge n then microwave when you want it.

Just buy normal brown rice and follow cooking instructions

Get ur self a rice cooker, it will make it a whole lot easier. Also by regular brown rice...Mix 1 cup of brown rice to every 2 cups of water click the button on the rice cooker and forget about it....15-20 min later u have perfect rice...Store the extra in a tupperware in the fridge to reheat when ever u want as baseline mentioned....

I dunno if they sell it where you live (I'm from the UK), but in the Tesco where I live they sell a "Brown Basmati Rice", It tastes really nice (probably nicer than Basmati).

I dunno what the actual GI & stuff are, but judging by the glance I had at the carbs etc, it looks really good. This is is a pic of the packet if it helps http://www.thefoodhall.es/images/Brown%20Basmati.jpg

If somebody fancies looking into it and finding out it's properties I'd be pretty interested to find out how good it actually is?

    goodluck

This. It comes out much better and not at all grainy.

Also, brown basmati and some other exotic varieties are much better if you're eating for taste/texture.

I did "Boil in a bag" brown rice forever, tastes great... put it in a tiny tuperware, cover in water (~cup per bag) and throw in the microwave for 10 min. Cover my chicken in it, pour 1tbsp of soy sauce on top, tasty!

Now I bought a rice cooker and just cook a ton of rice at once so I can bring it to work pre-cooked and it just needs 1-2 min to heat up on my breaks. If your brown rice tastes bad, poor brand, not enough water or not enough time cooking. Experiment til' you find what works for you! Brown rice is awesome!!!

I dont know guys. I'm gonna try a couple of other types first. Might look for the boil in a bag or brown basmati.
I probably won't end up going with a rice cooker. My wife is obsessive compulsive and I need to keep as much of my diet/gear/etc... hidden from site. If I don't she could "crack" and start counting her own calories and go anorexic again. (it's happend before) It's not her fault it's a disorder. I have to be as "care free" as possible in front of her, for her own good. She sees a rice cooker and that could spark a huge fire.

Nah. I've never used a cooker in my life.

I cook everything in pots... never a cooker or microwave.

Takes about 30-45 minutes. Tastes awesome.
