Post PWO Carbs - Good or Bad?

I've already received some respected individual member's opinions - just seeing what everybody seems to lean towards on a whole.

Titles says it all, PWO carbs - yes or no?

If yes, why? What do you think in terms of those who say that it is not neccessary and may actually hinder gains? Also, many seem to gravitate to double the amount of protein in the PWO shake. In this case, it seems that it concludes to these options:

    A. 50% Malodextrin, 50% dextrose
    B. 100% Malodextrin
    C. Oats/Rice

Again, if you answered "yes" to the above, do you prefer to take the carbs in through supplements, or whole foods? Preferable supplements when it comes to PWO carbs?

If no, explain your reasoning (preferably science) behind it.

Last question, does your answer differ if you are cutting, bulking, or just maintaining?

Leucine gives me a fair spike in insulin, so my PWO carbs are few and far between. As does the BCAA's. I usually add some oats to bring the shake together though.

    I then eat a meal with carbs/pro/fat 30mins after.

ive tried all 3.......no science behind my opinion, i like whey and oats the better out of the carb choices, i didnt feel hungry as quick after my PWO meal with the oats vs dextrose, but i am at the moment using whey and EVOO and feel no worse off. I am on CKD so limiting carbs as much as pos. i read an article off Bodybuilding.com that TOP put up about pro/fat after training and it made sense to me and as i feel no diff in the above 2, i will prob allways do pro/fat.........unless i start training for a particular cardio based event.

I am trying whey and BCAA only right now and cutting. I don't see the reason to ever spike your insulin levels and I eat a pro/carb meal about an hour after.

I like carbs PWO for 2 reasons:

    a) 99% of the time your protein source is a whey shake; it's nice to get some real food in as well

    b) Just to bring up the insulin and move those nutrients around. However, I stick with complex carbs as i'm not necessarily looking for a huge spike

It's obvious based on a) that I prefer real food vs. supplements. I mix raw oats into my whey shake and chew them up - I actually love it! It's also extremely convenient and quick.

As far as pro/fat meal PWO, I have heard and read that fat slows the absorption of protein (hence the reason alot of people like natty PB w/ a casein shake before bed), so I don't see the benefit based on that science (assuming it's correct), and in fact it would seem that fat would hinder protein synthesis.
