I started MMA a few weeks back. I was 232lbs when I started now after 3 weeks Im down to 215. My goal is to get to 185.
Right now Im doing good, but still get gassed bad after a couple minutes of going live.
My schedule is very restrictive, so I try my best to get 7 days a week in doing 1 or 1.5 hr sessions.
Right now my schedule is:
M-W-F Mai Tai -Drill combos, moderate sparring 1hr
Tuesday- No Gi Ju Jitsu 1hr-1.5hrs depending Drill moves two 5min rounds live (I get gassed after about 2 min then try to survive)
Thursday- Wrestling Grappling 1.5hrs drill moves 3-5 rounds live wrestling.
Saturday- 1HR conditioning kettle bells, sandbags, dumbells
Sunday I do weights by myself try to hit upperbody: 3 sets of heavy bench, 3 sets lat pulls, 3 sets Tricepts cable pull downs, 3 sets curls on curl bar.
I want to keep as much strength as possible, so I kind of guage were Im at when I do weights on Sunday.
I feel constantly broke down, but my strength has maintained and I feel quicker and more explosive.
I assume I should be training more, but after going live Im pretty broke down until the following day.
Should I be pushing myself to do some sprints in the evenings or hitting more conditioning classes even if I feel broke down? or would I be overtraining and need to ease into it a bit more?
Its been 3 weeks and Im down 17 pounds, but I thought my stamina would be better by now. My goal is to get to go 100% for (3) 5 min rounds with 30 second breaks. Any advise will be great.
