A Fine Line Under or Over Training

So every night at the gym I'm always thinking to my self don't over train, don't over train.. then i start thinking well perhaps i haven't worked enough and end up chucking in a few more sets ..
So then i go home thinking dame i wounder if i over or under trained to day.. driving me nuts

Anyone want to share how they can tell if they have over or under trained ?

    Cheers Gym_

You are thinking to much, I don't think the line is that fine

Are you growing, if not take a rest or add extra cals.

If you feel you need to add extra sets at the end of your workout then you are probably not working hard enough....it's not the extra sets that give growth, it's the very last rep

As long as you are getting sufficient rest then u are not going to over train, it has been proven that over training is more mental than being physically torn.

unless you're squatting and pulling 500+lbs you're not overtraining. there's a difference between not recovering fast enough and overtraining, in which case if you're having trouble recovering just eat more and stop going to failure.

I think you just have to find out the overtraining/undertraining line for yourself. I started overtraining about 7 months ago, and now I know approximately what volume/intensity is going to denote overtraining for me. If you've never had your lifts decrease due to overtraining, then you could try to up your volume/intensity slowly until you hit that point, then back off slightly.

Your diet is going to largely responsible for whether or not you are overtraining.
