    Question Sleep Apnea and Steroids

Does anybody else have this problem, I seem to be suffering more and its making me tired. I just left the hospital;they want to do an endoscopy and possibly some surgery.

I have always found it harder breathing as I get heavier, I am currently 95 kgs down from 105 a few weeks ago and am thinking of dropping another 10 kgs.

I'm not really happy with surgery, I'm wondering if anybody has any other remedy I could try. Thanks. John

I just ordered the pure sleep mouth piece, gonna give it a try I have suffered from bad obstructive sleep apnea since around 8yrs old due to a bad accident(truck ran me over). I didn't take to the cpa machine.....kinda of excited about trying it as it kinda feels like I have been up for months.

Keep us posted on that. Im interested. Apnea never really bothered me, hell I didnt even know I had it till my ex wife told me. But it would be nice to fix it and not irritate/wake up anyone next to me.

Mouth piece doesn't work ask my wife. Cpap machine has begun filling me with air/ gas. Can't use any more. ENT Dr wants to remove soft palet and tonsils. Insurance wont pay. Weight isn't an issue with me although it gets worse on cycle. Provigil helps with lack of sleep.

Thanks guys, Its nice to know i am not alone. They are telling me that removal of the tonsils and adenoids has a 99% success rate, The big concern to me is that due to the apnea the blood pressure and pulse is up and I am suffering a lack of oxygen.

The thing that is curious is the only time I feel well is when I train, it seems that when training I increase the oxygen supply. Its now concerning me that I have a continual shortness of breath and tiredness. The heart and lungs are perfect according to the heart specialist and he is saying That the problem is increased by the pollution I breathe on my motor cycle.[ the only way to get round Bangkok].

Having read your comments I thank you cos I do not want the mouthpiece and No machine so I guess I will keep my appointment 3rd Aug and have the operation. I'd rather not loose the weight too much. I am also just sick of feeling so damm tired. I am not sure about the insurance paying but one good thing here is the doctors will tell any lies needed to get the insurance to pay. Last time was an umbilical hernia which was excluded as a preexisting condition but we said it was due to a car knocking me off the bike and tearing me apart!

At the worst the costs here are not so bad. Problem is the wages are shit also. As far as the sleeping goes I have improved greatly in the last week got rid of diazapam and they have given me rohypnol. I used rohypnol for years before in Australia then they banned it but here its legal. No side affects and I don't seem to form any resistance to it. As a non drinking alcoholic my resistance to medication is extreme.

I'll let you know how the next chapter goes. Thanks a lot, good luck and regards to you all. John
