concerns about dieting during the month of Ramadan ( fasting)

hello folks,

it has been a while since i was here last time. on july 20th, Ramadan starts. its the holy month where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset which in canada will be from around 4 am till 9 pm. i am worried about my diet and training. i am a fan of carbs cycling, i have started doing it and it makes a lot of sense to me and it works. although i know i cant go on forever but if i get back to my balanced diet, i will not get hurt.

since i will be fasting during the day, i am planning to train at night. either right after my first meal ( light meal) or 2 to 3 hourse after.

however, would it be more rational to do carbs loading the entire time. since i will be fasting during the day? i am taking the advantage of this month to cut as much as possible

i am drug free, and only taking protein and amino acids.
i am 185 lb
10.5 % fat
5.9 ft
my carbs cyle is
low: 90 g
med: 270 g
high: 405 g

ramadan is a tough time to be lifting weights. you may go to the gym after your first meal, but suspect you will run out of energy before you get a real intense workout. as taxing on your body as it is to not eat a good portion of the time, I'd be thinking of just maintaining in the gym.

I would lift hard and heavy leading up to it, then use the month rest a little bit. Let your joints relax and like tr said, maintain

You could look into IF'ing. Appreciate you may be sleeping at night when you could be eating though!

I was in Afghanistan last Ramadan. Tough one, that month is. And you are right, nothing passes the lips, not even water, as long as the sun is up. Out of respect, I'd try to confine openly eating and drinking water, but one of the Muslims that worked for me explained that although they appreciate me not eating in front of them, it's no big deal. There were enough Muslims in the office there that they had their own "support" group (if you want to call it that) to where seeing others eating/drinking didn't bug them too much.

Now for the poor blokes working construction outside in the heat........................

I work in montreal and about 30% of the employees at my work will fast starting tomorrow! I might fast for one day just to feel the pain - No pain no glory!

Imagine the construction workers in Dubai! just sayin'

Ramadan is a tough time to be lifting. I just lift at night, after the first meal of course since you need that energy. You can and probably will lose a little bit of muscle, it always happens to me, so just do your best to maintain.
