10 minutes before to activate the blood throughout the system and helps get it moving out to the muscles from the stomach..
then post workout at 60% of max effort that way you would have already depleted all your glycogen stores and thus you want your body to release fats for energy, the only way to do that is to keep with low intensity, otherwise you are burning amino acids for energy ...
that's why we do cardio in the am in a fasted state, but only low to moderate intensity to preserve muscle..

I'm quite lean and light so i think doing cardio twice will be a bit too much for me i only do it twice a week too is there any positives of doing 1 opposed to the other?
Don't look at it as doing cardio twice. If you start your workout with about 10-20 minutes of light cardio it gets the blood flowing to all of the muscle groups. This in turn allows for more gains to be made while lifting. You are not doing this portion for "cardio" per se. Just to get the blood moving to the muscles so that they have adequate blood and nutrient supply to maximize your gains. There are many times that i start like this and periodically hit the bike between muscle groups to keep the heart rate elevated. Do not confuse this for a fat burning portion of your workout. The fat burning will come post workout in the low intensity portion. Typically for this you want to be in the range from about 120-140 beats per minute.
