Whey instead of casein before bed, big difference?

Whey instead of casein before bed, big difference?

So I recently ran out of casein protein so now I am using whey protein before bed instead. I was wondering how big of a difference this is going to make. Right now I am working on a lean bulk.

I am thinking of sticking to whey protein before bed simply due to the price difference. I can get 5 lbs of whey for $40 or 5 lbs of casein for $78. It really seems like the benefit vs cost ratio simply does not justify spending so much more for the casein protein. Perhaps if I was competing or getting paid to look a certain way the casein would be more enticing, but as I just work out for to be aesthetically pleasing for a hobby I really can't justify spending that much more.

    What do you guys think?

I don't buy into the Casein phenomenon bullshit. Usually I try to eat a meal before bed, but I've often drank a whey shake with a couple scoops of peanut butter. People seem to forget that protein power is still protein powder at the end of the day. It SUPPLEMENTS real food. With that being said, I see no difference in any of them, other than taste and price.

    That price difference is nuts

Just eat a real food meal if u can... If not, consuming whey will not be the end of the world..... In a fact I will go as far to say that over a 24+hr period it will make no difference at all

That price difference is nuts hey!! I agree with the eating real food too, the shake is simply a matter of convience for me to be honest. I know its wrong to take a shake instead of food but its just what works with my schedule.

I tried the whole casein thing and whey and a few blends. now I just use 20-30g prebed and have another 30-60g mixed in water in fridge and I have a few chugs of that during the night when/if I get up to piss.
    I like using whey more.
the price is less and it dosnt tast as shitty as the casein.

have a handfull of nuts and/or 1-2oz/shots of olive oil mixed in to keep you full longer and slow some of it down.

You really don't need to be consuming protein during the night

You may actually be decreasing the body's sensitivity to amino acids and its protein synthesis response....

It is not wrong to take a shake.
why is it people act like whey protein is some sort of FAKE product?
    it IS FOOD!
other then slowing down it passign through you, there is no difference.
I know I dont even eat meat and take in 80% of my protein from drinks (whey, hemp, soy ect.).

people in hospitals or that cant eat can keep mass and even live off liquid food.
mind you half my shakes I take with some food and i take extra vitamins.
But I see no issue getting 200g protein ED from drinks + more from food (another 30-100g)
I still put on 40lb in last 5 yrs so I am happy. its about eating right.
sure you cant live off of just protein powder, but who the hell would even try that.
Nothing wrong with it in my op. :-D

if its not that its me going for the cocolate chip cookies or chocolate covered almonds :-P

I find its an easy way to not be hungry, I cant sleep hungry and if i wake up i am hungry so I need something. I know what you mean though about the spikes in amino acids.
rather the body have extra of them then sugar or toomuch fats.

If you the protein with good fat source like almond butter or something it slows down the digestion.

Throw that whey in to some cottage cheese and you've got the best of both worlds.
