    Hard time growing wider lats

So every other muscle group seems to be coming along pretty well, but I'm having a really hard time widening my lats. Anyone have any ideas what I could do? I can post a typical back day for me if that's necessary.

Do you do pull ups? I've been training for about 15 years all natural and I have a pretty wide back. First thing is to make sure you have control of your back muscles and keep a focus on them throughout the movement. Very your hand grip for pull, ups from close (narrower then shoulder width) and wide. Do as many sets as it takes to get to 50. That's the warm up...

No, I haven't done chin ups in a while. I will add them in next week as my first exercise

Pull ups are the way to go bro.....if you have a weight assist machine your all set. Do any where from 2-4 sets of three different grips(all Overhand) regular, wide(wide as you can go) and close hammer. If you do not have a weight assist machine allowing you to get 8-15 reps per set, use the lat pull down or horizontal lat pull.

When my Lats were.. Well not Lats, feeling the muscle was hard enough let alone being "wide".

I found that I was lifting way too much & thus ended up using my arms. Drop the weight down & work hard (lat pull down) on just form. Feel when you're using your back & when you catch yourself using mainly arms. I've noticed when switching up to higher weights hat it's VERY easy to start using the biceps. Find your range, meaning don't pull the bar so low it's not your back anymore. To the chin is great. If I SLIGHTLY lean back, arc my back & try pulling down while squeezing my shoulder blades together I isolate well.

Pull ups & weight assisted the same way. form over weight!

Nothing worked better for me than real heavy chinups. Dip belt with a 30-40kg dumbell hangin on you and then UP.
I cluster for a total of 30 reps..

    pull ups are key

when doing pull downs, use a very light weight like a warm up weight you will feel this in your back when doing the set almost like u are about to pull a muscle, then when you do your working set and its hard but you dont feel that oull in your back any more. you are lifting way to much weight. I leanred when doing negatives i did preacher curl till my arms were dead, then i did pull downs , night and day difference.

Push downs should target the serratus as well, correct? Or are dumbell pullovers the only sure fire way to target that muscle.
Also, thanks for the responses guys.

Pull ups don't really target the serratus. Pull overs are good.

Push downs... NOT pull ups. I said nothing about pull ups and the serratus. Reading is key.

I'm not genetically gifted with great lats either. I've been doing close grip rows and barbell rows. Seems to be working.

underhand or close grip pullups and dumbell rows as opposed to barbell.
That should definitely help your lats
