    The Nub

Started really lifting in January 2012, 6'2ish, 135lbs. 23 years old.
As of last month, I am weighing in at 180lbs or so, natural. Just by pure motivation and a little protein/ creatine. This has plateaued in the last month or two where I have been stuck at my 180 give or take 5lbs which is probably water weight and the number of times I have been to the toilet in the day.

This difficult part, I am type 1 diabetic and have celiacs(no wheat or gluten). This makes life a little more challenging as I still try to consume my 2500-3000 calories a day with 150 carbs. This is my resting week, figured I should specify that. When Going crazy at the gym I try to up that to 3500ish. Due to diabetes I am really efficient at eating correctly, counting my food, and keeping alcohol on the minimum. I typically follow the rule, if it has an ingredient you can't pronounce or is a color, don't eat it.

I am committed and have a 6 day split. I am really looking to work up to 200-210 lbs and then cut some body fat. Currently I am sitting at 14%(without trying due to diabetes). I figure I will put some fat on but not much.

I would really love to start a steroid routine, nothing extreme but just enough to get me over my hump and to my goal(doesn't everyone say that when they start? haha)

Let me know what you guys think would be a good starting place. I know people say they run into high blood sugars regardless of if they are diabetic or not. The one benefit is I am prescribed insulin so I can just ramp up my insulin amount which in itself can help me gain muscle too and hopefully control that blood sugar somewhat. I really want to try this out, and am super committed.

I will continue reading the articles on here as they are all super helpful. Can't expect someone to do all the work for me. Right?
Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions for me.

    Matt

You have only been training for 12 mnonths and you have made great gains well done you need more time in the gym and if you have come to a brick wall in your progress you need to change your taining around and your diet because this is the area you need to conecntrate on for a further 12-18months and gaain as much as possible and laay down that foundation before steroids, best of luck

Thanks for the response Marcus. I guess I should clarify. I started lifting as soon as I graduated high school. Never made much gains from mass but still was able to increase my strength.

Only in the last year have I been able to control my diabetes to the point where I could increase my calories by almost 2x a day thus gaining my weight. As everyone says, nutrition is key.
I have changed routines around and they have helped. I guess it is just difficult, when you are gaining a pound a week on average and then that stops, it sucks, as everyone here knows.

Also would starting something be that bad idea? I guess I would get the help from you guys here rather then figure it out on my own if I am going to do it and make a mistake. I have always liked the idea of trying a routine, thus why I put so much effort into gaining that 45lbs.

As posted in my previous post, I have clarified that. Hopefully that makes a difference.

Even if you started AAS you need to be aable to incrase your calories to suit your new weight/mass so if you can increase your cals to support any new tissue you wont gain any new tissue even with steroids, because after the cycle you will lose all gains due to your cals not be able to support the new tissue. So I would post your diet in the diet section and ask for help to increase you cals to build and support more muscle, once you have mastered this then maybe you can look towards some aas but until you can sort your diet out there would be no point and only cause you more harm than good.

Not trying to debate, just trying to understand.

Kind of like I said previously, I am super good at counting. I should easily be able to boost my calories up to 6k daily although anything more then that and I would need consult my my nutritionist and endocrinologist. Last time I had gone in( I go in every 4 months) I had talked to them about going up that high and we made a game plan. So calories aren't an issue. Do you think I would need more then 6k daily??

I think I understand now after re reading the thread.

Your saying since I can't get my weight up, steroids would do no good.

It's not an issue of weight and calorie intake, unless I have a certain reason I don't like raising my bf% which was happening. I am just getting stuck from a weight lifting perspective and I have switchedy routine around as I didn't every 12 weeks or so during the last 18 months.

Would you like to see my current plan that is around 3k or a plan for if I needed higher calorie intake? Tell me a number, and I will give you an example. Also, I will never be the guy that eats the same thing at the same time every day, although I try to eat at the same time it varies.

I also get to much sodium in my diet due to me eating lot's of meats to stay lower on carbs which is easier on the diabetes. Not that I couldn't eat 500 carbs a day, I just prefer not to.

I like to use myfitnesspal to track my calories. That way I can see trends. The only thing from a mutational value that I track that I was low on was iron and carbs. And like I said before over on sodium.

Every morning starts with a breakfast wether that is eggs, hashbrowns, oatmeal, cream of rice or any combination. I have had this last week off otherwise there would probably be a shake too.
I wake up at 7ish and breakfast is typically at 730 everyday

I normally eat a ham/turkey/or bologna with cheese on my gluten free bread. This is normally 1030-11am

Lunch is then typically between 1130 and 1230 depending on my meetings for the day.

I normally eat another sandwich at 2ish. Yesterday I decided to just leave it for tomorrow.

I get home at 430ish and will snack on some stuff. Normally nuts of some sort but sometimes chips but not very often as its not the best choice. I eat consistently around 6 which almost always contains a meat veggie and starch. Meat can range from fish to chicken to beef.

I almost always have protein at night just because I like it that much. When working out I normally drink two a day.

Typically you'll see high carbs at night to correct any extra insulin in my system before bed. I also try to eat less carbs more often because that prevents a spike in my blood sugar. Eating 100+ grams will always spike me.

I attached the screen shot of what I ate today.
Edit: after looking back, forgot to mention the chili was home made and I said 2 cups total. I would triple that amount to 6 cups so add another 600 calories to my total

Let me know what you think, and I appreciate the help.

So u gained 35lbs natty, in one year? Thats very impressive, sounds like you'll have a good foundation to work with when ur ready for AAS. Try tweaking ur diet and switch up ur workout routines to shock ur body. Give it another year b4 considering a cycle.
