    New PR on deads

    315 x 12, was pretty stoked.

Anyways, point of this thread was my shins are beat to shit from dragging the bar close to my body. The same spots always take a beating, now I have scabs up my shins. I tried putting bandaids over them today and wearing a pair of high socks to cover it, but still managed so bleed out through my sweat pants, not really a pretty sight.

Anyone else have this problem of getting beat up shins? If so how did you fix it

    Thanks

Happened to me yesterday. Still haven't found a way to prevent it so I just roll with it

Ya... I have been but rollin around the gym with blood on the front of my grey sweat pants is not cool. Guess I can switch to black, or even red pants for that matter hah

I wear shorts so I suppose that's even worse. I clean up best I can, but it doesn't always stop in time with the pace of my workout. No ones said anything yet so I just continue on.

Some gyms have bars that are smooth in the middle and have no groves.

What I do is I find the bar in the gym that is worn down the most. Then it doesn't tear you up so much.

If I were you I would take enough time off the deads to let your shins heal. If this is not an option go out and get yourself a pair of shin guards (soccer player ones) even a pair of child ones will protect you ($5?)

    Congrats on you new PR!

About the shins; you can get Rock tape or KT shin tape at your local Sports Authority or sports store to prevent scrapes.

I must not be doing them correctly. My shins are not bleeding.

Well I was taught by a power lifter quite a while ago to essentially drag the bar up your body, and same goes for lowering the weight. This will put you in the proper form. Keep the bar back towards your body will stop you from leaning over to far and actually make you drop your ass low to the ground like its supposed to be.
I could be full of it, but this is how I made sense of keeping the bar close

I wrap some tape on the bar itself to keep this from happening. I didn't really have a choice though; the manager at the gym wasn't happy with me bleeding all over the place. I stripped a bunch of skin off my shins doing heavy pulls and she was pissed.
