train one week, rest the next?

    Hi guys.

Due to my new job it´s hard for me to hit the gym during my work weeks. I work 7 days, and am off 7 days.
I´m currently bulking and I´m wondering of this way of training is good or bad, if bad, how bad? I´ve been training for 3 years and am in pretty good shape if thhose informarion are benefitial.
I have a problem findng the energy and time to train during my 12 hour shifts.

Please send me some feed back about this.

My opinion of training is that if you can't muster the energy and enthusiasm to train with intensity, then you probably not accomplishing much. Therefore, IMO it is better to train with great intensity for one week and take the other week off and rest. A 12 hour shift does not leave much in the tank in terms of energy. Don't underestimate the importance of rest on a bulk cycle

Makes my happy to hear this.
I´ve been training this way for a few weeks now. Come to think of it, my last workout week I had great energy and made some improovements in streangth and energy.
I just though i might be "waistin" my gear if I can´t work out more than that.

Would it not be neccesary to hit each muslce group at least 2 times during the week of training?
Would you suggest fullbody or some sort of splits if that´s the way you work out?

Baselines power/hypertrophy routine may be good for you to hit each muscle twice a week

You will have to go at it hard. Reach that overload and push, get a partner or spotter to help you with this. Your spotter needs to know how to spot for your needs. Train like a beast and rest a week. EAT, Eat, Eat ...crazy mike

i work 12-15hrs a day, a different schedule every week, always a different city sometimes even a different state and although i do miss a day or two some weeks because of this i still get my training in...its all in how bad you want it...i just finished 11 12hr days in a row and still made it to a gym 6 out of 11 days...but to your question every other week is better than nothing right?...good luck...

It probably depends on your age to certain extent. At 48, I'm cashed in after a 12 hour day. I would be wasting my time going to weight room with low energy.

On the other hand, when I was 28, I would work all day on the farm, go lift weights, then go out to the bar from 10pm to 2am. All in the pursuit of a piece of ass, lol
