    Focusing on "weakspots while bulking"

    Hi.

In the past I have reached single digit BF twice, how ever i was never happy with how my abs looked.
I have a small waisteline and a nice set of 8 packs. I´guess it´s just that my abs aren´t that big to begin with. I´m currently bulking and have put on good weight the last 3 months, my question is, should i focus more on abs then I have in order to get them to grow so I wount have to cut as much in order to have them pop out?

a small midsection is what bodybuilders generally strive for.. think of yourself as blessed..

you could do more sit ups to make abs more impressive but generally if you focus more on shoulder & lat width you'd have an amazing V taper..

I know it´s a good thing and I´m happy about that in it self.
I just have a pretty flat ab section by nature and wanted them to pop out more. What are the best abs excersises to develop only the middle abs?

cable wood chops.... Russian twists.... hanging leg raises I like planks and adding weight to crunches...I also do this thing where I wedge a bar into a corner with a lighter weight on it and pass it side to side ( don't recall name)

sit ups don't activate enough deep abdominal muscles to really stimulate growth... mix up rep ranges like I said add weight and go lower rep to add density

Abs are muscles. If you are on low carbs and or depleting yourself with out a proper refeed or carb load your abs will look flat and small.

Agreed. Further, if you don't have that 'pop', it could be genetics, a lack of development, or a little of both. I have well developed abs but a very thick midsection, giving the illusion of narrower shoulders and back (not that I'm very wide to begin with in either) - so, I'll trade ya!

End of the day legendary abs routine is probably the best one around. Alot of bodybuilders i know never train abs, they just have them. If this is not the case working them a lot could increase the growth. Frank Zane hit his abs like crazy leading me to believe he had poor ab genetics. Hard work, consistency and diet should pay off.

Cable crunches and weighted crunches is a staple in my about routine. I got tired of the body weight exercises

I´ve started to hit abs every other work out, giving my self a good 20-30 minutest each time to do so. I do feel they are getting more defined by doing this unfortunately I can´t see it due to my layer of winter fat and fur I´m gona keep doing this and hopefully I´ll see good results when I have cut down a bit. I am defenetly one of those guys that need to work there abs, I am getting way stronger in my midsection since I started to actually give me some time to work them. I also feel that alternating me ab excersises each time has been beneficial.
Hopefully i´ll have a raging 8-pack during my cut which i am starting at the end of January. Thanks for all your advices guys.
