How does one do so?
I'm "bulking" at the moment, and it's safe to say that I HATE getting this softer look.
I'm only 18, and have made the decision to stay natty for the time being, so that's out of the question.

Difficult because your body needs a caloric surplus to gain muscle (eat more than you need to) while to remain lean you need to stick to your caloric amount if not be in a slight deficit.
Best thing is to go for a high protein/low calorie diet which includes egg, vegetables and protein supplements.
by just maintaining as close as possible to a certain body weight and sticking to a particular calorie intake that is high in protein and low in fat. It in theory will have your body switch back an forth from anabolic to catabolic. You can't gain muscle mass and cut fat at the same time, so you have to do either or.
A good way to lean bulk is to keep calories high, but taper off on carb intake later in the day. Add some good fat into the equation to make up for the missing carbs.
High protein/moderate carb/moderate fat diet my good man. It is possible to stay lean while bulking up.
Just bulk slowly. Spend your whole life as a bulk. Theres never a need to cut if you keep your diet clean and just keep adding lbm over time
